How clone casinos reach players
Distribution routes observed in tracker entries, January through August 2026. Ordered by frequency in our log.
Brand-term search ads. The clone bids on the real casino's name plus login, plus app, plus bonus. Ad copy reuses the brand name, the display URL looks close enough. Cheapest route per victim because the player was already looking for the brand. Ads get pulled fast when reported, so buys run in short bursts, often over weekends.
Organic search on navigational queries. Scraped review pages, copied help articles and doorway blogs rank for brand plus mirror, brand plus new link, brand plus withdrawal queries. Slower to build, slower to die. Two entries in July 2026 involved doorway content outranking the operator's own domain in smaller markets.
Messenger funnels. Telegram channels posing as official brand channels post working mirror links, some real, some clone. Channel names carry the brand plus official or plus support. When a blocked market genuinely relies on mirrors, players cannot tell an unofficial link from a lethal one, and the clone operators know it.
Fake apps. APK files named after the brand distributed off-store through landing pages, forums and file hosts. Store-level fakes still surface too, mostly thin wrappers that load the clone site in a webview and pass store review as a utility app.
Hijacked affiliate paths. Expired affiliate domains and retired promo subdomains still carry inbound links and old rankings. Bought or claimed, they get pointed at clones. Traffic looks organic to the player and referred to the clone operator.
Social and influencer bait. Short-form videos promising exclusive bonus links, comment-section link drops under real brand posts, and paid placements in tipster groups. Lowest volume in our log, highest churn.
What the routes share
Every route exploits the same gap, the player's belief that anything carrying the brand name was published by the brand. None of these routes requires hacking the operator. They operate entirely in public channels, which is why they persist. Detection means watching those channels continuously rather than auditing your own infrastructure.
Route frequency shifts by market. Blocked markets skew to routes 3 and 5, since players there expect mirrors. Open markets skew to routes 1 and 2. Entries in the patterns log record which route carried each incident, and the removal notes cover what actually gets each route shut down.
